Coralville, IA – Jack Berry earned his first ECHL win in a 3-2 Iowa Heartlanders victory over the Kansas City Mavericks Monday at Xtream Arena. Berry saved 23 as the Landers took a 4-2-1-0 season-series lead over Kansas City.Jack Billings scored the eventual game-winning goal at 9:54 of the second period. He grabbed a rebound at net front and easily flicked the puck across the line for his sixth goal of the year.Adrien Beraldo opened the scoring less than two minutes into the game. Beraldo’s snipe from the right point deflected off a Maverick and found the back of the net for his third of the season. Zach White and Shane Kuzmeski were given the assists and it was Kuzmeski’s first point in a Heartlanders uniform.White scored his second of the season on the power play to extend the Iowa lead to 2-0 at 9:24 of the first. With White’s two points tonight, he has three in the last two games, and four in the last four. Kaid Oliver and Cole Stallard each earned a point on the White goal. Oliver has a three-game point streak and Stallard has reached points in four straight.The Mavericks cut the Iowa lead to one twice in the game, but were never able to even the score. Ben Johnson tallied their first goal at 15:24 of the first on a power play to make the score 2-1. Darik Angeli rifled in a power-play goal with five minutes left in the second to cut the score to 3-2. Angeli has earned a point in four straight against the Heartlanders and scored in three straight.Angus Redmond stopped 29 in loss for Kansas City.
