Stallard's hat trick propels Iowa to first win, 7-2

Coralville, Iowa – The Iowa Heartlanders got their first win of the season defeating the Fort Wayne Komets, 7-2, Sunday at Xtream Arena.Cole Stallard had his first ECHL hat trick, scoring on the first three shots he took. The Iowa offense exploded for four goals in the second period. Stallard scored two in the first and one in the second, completing the hat trick at 16:59 of the second on a breakaway that gave Iowa a 6-2 edge.Alec Broetzman, Michael Pastujov, and Nick Campoli all scored their first professional goals and Matthew Boucher scored his third of the season (1:10 of 3rd, PPG). Iowa out shot Fort Wayne, 40-19.Clark Hiebert opened the scoring for the Komets at 1:54 of the first period with his first goal of the season. In the second period, Drake Rymsha tallied to bring the Komets within one, his fifth of the season. From there, Iowa scored four unanswered goals.Heartlanders goalie Corbin Kaczperski had 17 saves for the win in his season debut.
