Indianapolis, IN – The Iowa Heartlanders, proud ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild and Iowa Wild, play the Indy Fuel for the fourth straight game Wednesday at 6:05 p.m. The Heartlanders hosted the Fuel three times last week, going 1-1-1-0. Wednesday’s game marks the start of a three-game road trip for Iowa, the team’s only road games in January. Iowa visits Kansas City on Friday and Saturday after the contest against Indy.   Both teams have been off since Saturday at Xtream Arena; Iowa snapped a six-game losing streak and won their seventh game of the season, 3-1. Saturday marked the first time since Dec. 14 the club scored three goals or more in a game. Iowa rallied for three goals in the second to take the lead for good after trailing, 1-0. Captain Riese Zmolek, Alternate Captain Tyler Busch and rookie Clayton Phillips each scored.The Landers have nine more games this month and six are at home. The Fuel had won the previous six head-to-head meetings.In this season’s series, Iowa has scored 11 goals and Indy has tallied 19 times (4 empty-net goals).Saturday marked Iowa’s first come-from-behind win ever against the Fuel; Iowa trailed 1-0 before scoring three straight goals.Mike Pastujov, Tommy Parrottino and James Sanchez lead Iowa with four points against Indy this season. Tyler Busch has the most goals of any Lander against the Fuel (3g).Alex Wideman tops all Fuel with seven points (5a) against the Heartlanders.  Fifteen Indy skaters have scored a goal against Iowa in the series.Iowa and Indy have each scored three power-play goals in the series (Iowa 3-for-12, Indy 3-for-10).0 PIM last time outThe Heartlanders took 0 penalty minutes Saturday, the second time in team history the Landers did not take any penalties in a game. The only other time it happened was Jan. 28, 2022, a 5-2 loss for Iowa at Kalamazoo. In that game, the K-Wings allowed just one power play to the Heartlanders, meaning there was one minor taken the entire game. In Saturday’s game, Iowa went 2-for-2 on the power play.Corbin’s CreaseCorbin Kaczperski made a season-high 38 saves in the 3-1 win Saturday against the Fuel. That was the most saves a Heartlanders goalie had in a contest this season, surpassing the total Kaczperski had against the Mavericks (37 saves) in a 2-1 loss Dec. 31.Kaczperski has played 32 games in his ECHL career with Iowa and he has required 30-plus saves in 16 of those contests.This season, he is 3-1-0-0 when making at least 30 saves.
