Iowa starts seven-game home stand

Coralville, Iowa – The Iowa Heartlanders, proud ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild and Iowa Wild, start a season-long seven-game home stand against the Wheeling Nailers Friday at 7:05 p.m. Friday is the first of three straight games between Iowa and Wheeling. The clubs play seven more games this season, six of which are at Xtream Arena.Iowa is 2-1-0-0 in the season series and has won back-to-back games against the Nailers.Both teams are seeking to keep recent successes rolling into this weekend; the Heartlanders have three wins already this month and Wheeling scored ten goals and beat the Norfolk Admirals, 10-2, in their last game Feb. 13.The Nailers are 20-21-5-0 (45 points), seven points behind Fort Wayne for the fourth and final Central Division playoff spot. Iowa trails Kalamazoo by nine points for sixth place with 27 games to play.Friday is the start of the team’s Cancer Awareness Series weekend, presented by DASH Auctions. In each of Jones’ last four starts, he’s either won or faced 40-plus shots, boasting a 2-2-0-0 record and .913 save percentage in February. Hanson is 1-1-0-0 since joining Iowa and owns a .928 save percentage since coming to the Heartlanders in a trade with Savannah.Scouting the Nailers Wheeling snapped a season-long five-game losing streak Saturday with a 10-2 victory against Norfolk, the highest-scoring game for Wheeling since Feb. 6, 2010 and the 12th time in 31 seasons Wheeling has scored at least ten in a contest.Twelve of Wheeling’s 17 skaters finished with at least a point. Justin Addamo tallied a hat trick, Tyler Drevitch had a career-best four-point game (2g, 2a) and Brooklyn Kalmikov had three assists and four points.Addamo leads the Nailers with 21 goals this season.The Nailers have had five goaltenders play for them this season.
