Wheeling, WV – The Iowa Heartlanders, proud ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild and Iowa Wild, seek a three-game point streak and oppose the Wheeling Nailers for the second straight game Saturday at 6:10 p.m.The teams played the first of a back-to-back Friday and Iowa earned its first road win of the season, 2-1. Hunter Jones blocked 25 shots and Yuki Miura scored his second game-winning goal of the season early in the second.Iowa has played back-to-back one-goal games and is 1-0-1-0 in their last two. Carson Denomie and Yuki Miura scored for Iowa. Denomie scored his first goal of the season at the 14:01 mark of the first, snapping a 41-game goal less drought. Miura tallied in the opening four minutes of the second.Bailey Brkin made 22 saves but was given the loss.Road aheadThe Heartlanders have five road games this month, but will be done with them by the end of next week. After Saturday’s game at Wheeling and Sunday’s at Fort Wayne, Iowa returns to Coralville to start a home-and-home set with Indy with games Wednesday, Feb. 8 in Coralville and Friday, Feb. 10 at Indy. The Heartlanders visit Toledo on Sat., Feb. 11.Following the game at Toledo, Iowa enjoys seven straight home games from Feb. 17-Mar. 1.Season Series The Heartlanders are 1-1-0-0 against Wheeling this season. The clubs face off eight more times including Saturday’s game. Six of the eight games are in Coralville (Feb. 17-19 and Apr. 12-15).Wheeling has three goals in the series and Iowa has two in two games. Wheeling won the opening game of the series, 2-0.Iowa has four players with points – Yuki Miura (1g), Carson Denomie (1g), Alec Broetzman (1a) and James Sanchez (1a).All-time series The Heartlanders have at least a point in five of nine games against the Nailers all-time. Last season, Iowa went 3-3-1-0 against the Nailers. Iowa is 4-1-0-0 all time at Wesbanco Arena, while the Nailers are 4-0-0-0 in games played at Xtream Arena.Iowa has outscored the Nailers 12-5 in victories, while Wheeling has clashed back with a +10 goal differential in its five wins.
