Iowa and Indy meet for 10th time this season

Coralville, Iowa – The Iowa Heartlanders, proud ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild and Iowa Wild, face the Indy Fuel for the sixth time at Xtream Arena this season Friday at 7:05 p.m. Iowa has played Indy nine times this season and Friday is the penultimate matchup of the 11-game season series.The Heartlanders are coming off a loss Wednesday at home vs. Cincinnati. The team has points in two of its last four home games.Indy has won three straight, the club’s longest winning streak since mid January. The Fuel have had five winning streaks of three games or longer this season. In their last game Saturday at Cincinnati, Max Golod scored the overtime-winning goal to cap a 3-2 victory. The Heartlanders have eight home games left in the 2022-23 season and 16 overall.Coming down the stretch, James Sanchez (34 points) is in prime position to finish as the team’s points leader; he’s eight ahead of Michael Pastujov and Tommy Parrottino. Parrottino (15g) is one of six rookies in the league to lead his team in goals. Coincidentally, Parrottino is still looking for his first career game-winning goal. Zach White, Sanchez and Yuki Miura each have a team-best two game-winning goals.Scouting Indy  The Indy Fuel have several talented offensive players who have contributed to the team's success this season. Alex Wideman, a forward, has been one of the team's top scorers with 54 points in 53 games. He has also been effective on the power play, scoring 4 goals and 11 assists with the man advantage. Cameron Hillis, another forward, has also been a strong contributor with 52 points in 48 games split between Indy and Trois-Rivieres.Chad Yetman has scored 23 goals and 24 assists in 45 games. 2023 All-Star Selection Seamus Malone has also been a top performer, tallying 18 goals and 24 assists in 44 games.Indy’s offense ranks in the league’s top ten, averaging 3.6 goals per game. They’ve scored the third-most goals in the division behind Indy and Cincinnati.Season seriesThe Heartlanders and Fuel are playing their 10th matchup of 11 season-series games Friday. The Fuel have won seven of the nine games; two of those seven victories have been one-goal wins.The Heartlanders two victories came on Feb. 10 at Indy and Jan. 7 at Xtream Arena.James Sanchez tops Iowa with five assists and six points this season vs. Indy. Tommy Parrottino, Nolan Orzeck and Tyler Busch top the Heartlanders with three goals against the Fuel.Indy’s Alex Wideman leads all players with nine points (3g).
