Kalamazoo, MI – The Iowa Heartlanders scored three times in the third period to smash the Kalamazoo Wings, 4-1, Saturday at Wings Event Center. The Heartlanders have won back-to-back games to open up a three-in-three and are 4-1-1-0 in their last six contests. Jesse Jacques, Louis Boudon and Jake Durflinger (empty-net goal) tallied and Hunter Jones made 31 saves, yielding just once with the Heartlanders ahead by three in the final two minutes.Carson Denomie (1g) and Durflinger (1g) finished with two points.In the third, Jacques scored his second pro goal on a slam in at the left post with 2:20 gone in the third, aimed over the shoulder on a centering pass from Zach White. His strike made it a 2-0 game. Boudon extended the lead with his first goal, a short-handed, two-on-none breakaway sprung by Jake Durflinger’s pass across the slot to the left post in the final four minutes. With seven seconds left, Yuki Miura passed to Durflinger alone for the empty-net put away.Kalamazoo’s lone goal came on their final of 32 shots, a redirect from Justin Taylor at 18:46 of the third.Denomie opened the scoring with a laser beam on a two-on-one rush and 2:20 left in the second.
