By: David Fine // Coralville, Iowa – The Iowa Heartlanders announced the team’s 2023-24 promotional calendar Thursday. With all the excitement that surrounds this announcement, let’s take a look at the promotional nights we are looking forward to. A reminder that season ticket memberships, mini-plans, partial plans and group tickets are available for the 2023-24 season by visiting iowaheartlanders.com/tickets and by calling 319-569-4625.5) Opening Night – Oct. 20 at 6:35 p.m. vs. Rapid CityYou simply cannot beat the energy of Opening Night, and this season’s home opener promises to be special with festivities going on in the Iowa River Landing and a magnet schedule giveaway courtesy of Paul Park Real Estate. We’ve also enjoyed seeing “Landers Country” bring their own spirit to the opening night action, with fans tailgating and showing their pride on what is hopefully a beautiful evening in mid-October. Iowa has had high-scoring opening games in its first two seasons, which included a 7-4 victory against Kansas City in the first game in team history in 2021. For this season’s opener, Rapid City visits Xtream Arena for the first time ever, adding a new layer of intrigue to the game.4) Affiliation Night – Jan. 19 at 6:35 p.m. vs. WheelingA Friday night showdown against the rival Wheeling Nailers brings along its own set of organic excitement, but adding the Heartlanders’ Affiliation Night means even more “pop” for fans looking to enjoy an evening in the Iowa River Landing. The Heartlanders will be dressed up just like their NHL parent club, the Minnesota Wild. These jerseys will be available on the DASH Auctions app. It won’t just be the jerseys that draw some excitement, because Iowa will dress “head-to-toe” like Minnesota. It’s a great night for fans to see what some of their favorite Landers might look like when they make it to “The Show” in St. Paul.3) Heartland Heroes Night – Mar. 23 at 6:05 p.m. vs. WichitaThe Heartlanders debuted this promotion last season and it’s back for a second season. We are so appreciative for everything our local heroes do for us in the area, and this game is a perfect way to give back and thank those that selflessly serve our community. In addition to the recognitions that will take place throughout the night, it’s part of a huge weekend against Wichita on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday is the 100th home game in team history, Saturday is Heartland Heroes and Sunday is Faith & Family night presented by Pizza Ranch with a team photo giveaway, postgame skate (Family Dental Center) and postgame Easter Egg Hunt. This weekend might also prove to be one of the most-important of the team’s season; late March victories are often consequential to a team’s playoff hopes.
2) Blackout Night – Feb. 17 at 6:05 p.m. vs. IndyThis is going to be a unique one. The theme of the night is to “Blackout” Xtream Arena, with fans encouraged to wear black attire. The only thing that might light up the arena are the “Glow Bangers” that will be given away to create a rowdy atmosphere, thanks to DASH Auctions. On the ice, the Heartlanders are wearing one-of-a-kind “blackout” jerseys that will be available for auction on DASH Auctions. This will be the first time the Heartlanders do a Blackout Night, and we’re looking forward to taking on the division rival Indy Fuel in this Saturday night showdown.1) St. Hat Trick’s Day (Bobblehead Giveaway) – Mar. 16 at 6:05 p.m. vs. WheelingHard not to pick this one, because there’s so much going on that any individual thing might’ve made the top five. First off, early-arriving fans will receive a Dash St. Patrick’s Day Themed Bobblehead (think leprechaun here). There will also be special St. Hat Trick’s themed jerseys and an overall green theme at Xtream Arena. As the kicker, if a Heartlanders player scores a hat trick, one lucky fan will win a Heartlanders-DASH Auctions prize pack with some excellent prizes inside. The first St. Hat Trick’s game in team history is going to be electric.Honorable mentionsMilitary Appreciation Night on Nov. 17Field Trip Day on Nov. 15Dash’s Birthday on Jan. 20Country Night on Feb. 9Star Wars Night on Feb. 16Fan Appreciation Weekend Apr. 12-13
