Heartlanders announce Hockey Operations promotions

Coralville, Iowa - The Iowa Heartlanders, proud ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild and Iowa Wild, announced two promotions within the team's Hockey Operations Department ahead of the Heartlanders' season-opening games on Thursday, Oct. 19 and Friday, Oct. 20 at 6:35 p.m. vs. the Rapid City Rush. Tickets are available for both games visiting iowaheartlanders.com/tickets.

- Joe Exter has been promoted to Associate Coach and Assistant General Manager. Exter was previously the team's Associate Coach.
- Eric Michaud has been promoted to Director of Hockey Operations and Video Coach. Michaud previously served as Iowa's Coordinator of Video and Team Services. 

Exter and Michaud are key members of Head Coach & General Manager Derek Damon's staff. 

Exter joined the Heartlanders in 2022-23 after spending the previous 12 seasons as an assistant coach at the NCAA level. He spent six seasons with Ohio State, five with Michigan State and one with American International College. While coaching for Team USA, Exter helped the United States capture a gold medal at the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championships.

Michaud is starting his fourth full season in the ECHL and has progressed every year he's been in the league. He joined the Kansas City Mavericks as a Video Coach in 2020-21, earned a role as the Maine Mariners' primary Video Coach in 2021-22, then joined the Heartlanders for the start of the 2022-23 season.
