Coralville, Iowa – The Iowa Heartlanders announced Thursday forward Pavel Novak has been reassigned from the Heartlanders to the Iowa Wild by the Minnesota Wild. He is the second Heartlanders player to receive a call-up from the Iowa Wild this season, joining forward Gavin Hain.
Novak scored the first two goals of his North American professional career last Friday vs. Rapid City. He is tied for Iowa’s team lead with two goals in two games (3 pts.). This is Novak’s first season playing professionally in North America.
The 21-year-old signed an entry-level contract with Minnesota in May 2022. In the 2021-22 season, Novak was tied for Kelowna’s (WHL) team lead with 29 goals and finished second on the Rockets with 72 points. He played two seasons with Kelowna (2019-20, 2021-22).
Minnesota selected Novak with the 146th overall pick (5th round) at the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. The 5-foot-9, 175-lb., right-handed shot is a native of Tabor, Czechia.
The Heartlanders visit Wichita to kick off a four-game road trip on Sat., Oct. 28 at 7:05 p.m.
The Landers are next at home to begin a six-game home stand Nov. 8-18 at Xtream Arena. The team hosts Kalamazoo on Nov. 8 at 6:35 p.m., Nov. 9 at 6:35 p.m. and Nov. 11 and 6:05 p.m.
