Coralville, Iowa – The Iowa Heartlanders won their second straight game in comeback fashion, 2-1, over the Kalamazoo Wings on Thursday at Xtream Arena. The game was tied going into the final period, but with just over six minutes left in the game, Will Calverley poked home a rebound for the go-ahead goal, his first goal with Iowa. Peyton Jones finished with 29 saves for Iowa; he made 28 straight saves to finish the game after Kalamazoo opened the scoring at 1:00 of the first. Jones has won back-to-back games with Iowa, allowing two goals in his last two starts.
With Iowa trailing, 1-0, the team went on the power play late in the second period and equalized. At 14:40 of the second, Landon Kosior fired a strong wrister from the top of the left circle to tie the game.
Hunter Vorva saved 19 of 21 shots for Kalamazoo.
Iowa takes on Kalamazoo Sat., Nov. 11 at 7:05 p.m. Wear Black and Gold to the game to receive a group-priced ticket for any single-game ticket (must purchase at box office on day of game).
