Coralville, Iowa – The Iowa Heartlanders finished a three-game sweep of the Kalamazoo Wings with a 2-1 victory on Saturday at Xtream Arena. Peyton Jones won for the third straight game, denying 34 Wings shots.
Max Cajkovic scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season 7:18 into the second period. Davis Koch centered a pass for Cajkovic, who flipped it toward the net. It ricocheted off the goalie and in.
At :47 of the third period, Louis Boudon fired a pass from Yuki Miura across the crease to Koch, who tapped it home to give Iowa the 2-0 lead. Nine minutes later, Collin Adams answered with Kalamazoo’s lone goal.
Jones saved 16 shots in the third. Between the end of the game Thursday and today’s game, he made 53 straight saves before allowing the third-period marker.
Jonathan Lemieux saved 33 of 35 between the pipes for Kalamazoo.
