Coralville, Iowa – The Iowa Heartlanders, proud ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild and Iowa Wild, announced forward Pavel Novak and defenseman Kyle Masters have been reassigned to the Heartlanders from the Iowa Wild.
Novak has scored two goals (3 points) in two games with the Heartlanders, plus two goals and three points in 12 games with AHL Iowa. He is in his first professional season in North America and has also skated professionally overseas in his home country Czechia. In 2019-20 and 2021-22, Novak scored 54 goals and 130 points in 117 games with WHL Kelowna. Minnesota selected Novak in the fifth round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft (146th overall).
Masters is a 20-year-old right-handed shot defenseman from Edmonton, AB that is in his rookie season. From 2019-23, Masters skated for Red Deer and Kamloops in the WHL. Last season, he led Kamloops blueliners with 65 points (11g) and skated in the 2023 Memorial Cup with the Blazers. Minnesota drafted Masters 118th overall (4th round) in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
Following three straight games on the road this Friday-Sunday, Iowa is next at home for six straight games starting Friday, Dec. 15 against Toledo at 6:35 p.m. On Sat., Dec. 16 at 6:05 p.m., Iowa hosts Toledo for Teddy Bear Toss Night, pres. by DASH Auctions. The Heartlanders will wear specialty holiday jerseys available for auction on the DASH Auctions app. Fans are encouraged to bring Teddy Bears to throw on the ice after Iowa’s first goal, which will be donated to local charitable organizations helping those in need this holiday season.
On Sun., Dec. 17 at 2:05 p.m., the Heartlanders take on Toledo for Elementary School Day, pres. by MidWestOne Bank. The day also features a postgame skate pres. by The Family Dental Center.
