Coralville, Iowa – The Iowa Heartlanders, proud ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild and Iowa Wild, prepare for their fourth game of the season at Heritage Bank Center, taking on the Cincinnati Cyclones Wednesday at 6:35 p.m.
The Heartlanders are looking to get back on track after back-to-back regulation losses vs. Wheeling last weekend. In the team’s latest game, Iowa outshot the Nailers, 29-22, but Taylor Gauthier denied 28 shots for his fourth career win vs. Iowa.
Cincinnati trended the opposite way last weekend, outscoring foes, 9-4, in back-to-back wins vs. Toledo and Kalamazoo. Sahil Panwar scored the game-winning goal at the K-Wings Jan. 20.
Both teams played nine days ago at Xtream Arena, a 5-4 come-from-behind win for Iowa in overtime.
The Heartlanders are playing their first of five straight road games Wednesday. The Heartlanders have four road trips this season that last at least five games.

Weekend to remember at Xtream
The Iowa Heartlanders drew their two largest crowds of the 2023-24 season Friday and Saturday vs. Wheeling, seeing just under 7,000 total fans at the two games.
Saturday’s crowd of just under 4,000 ranked as the team’s best in the middle of a season ever. The other four best crowds happened on either the season’s opening or final weekend.
Season Series
The Heartlanders will meet the Cincinnati Cyclones for the fourth time this season Wednesday.
The Heartlanders have a record of 1-2-1-0 in the season series. Iowa won in overtime during the last meeting between the two teams at Xtream Arena on Jan. 15.
Iowa’s Drew DeRidder faced 49 shots and made 45 saves in the most recent meeting against the Cyclones. This tied a franchise high for most shots faced in a game.
Will Calverley, Maxim Cajkovic and Jake Durflinger have earned at least a point per game against Cincinnati this season.
The Heartlanders will face the Cyclones at home on Feb. 9 for KISS Country Night at Xtream Arena.
Last time on the road was pretty good
Iowa’s first trip to Tulsa on January 12th and 13th was the team's best road trip over the past two months. Iowa got three points, earning a win and overtime loss. Iowa’s defense made a notable impact keeping the games within one goal in each contest.
The Heartlanders ended the season series with Tulsa with a 1-0-1-0 record.
Indy next
The Heartlanders will face off against the Indy Fuel for the first time this season Friday, crossing off their last unique division opponent of the season. The Heartlanders will meet them for in the middle of a five-game road trip Friday and Saturday.
Iowa is slated to face off against Indy six times in the next month and a half. The two teams will meet at Xtream Arena three times during that period.
Last season, the Heartlanders had a 3-7-1-0 record against the Fuel.

Iowa takes to the road for five straight games beginning Wed., Jan. 24 at 6:35 p.m. vs. Cincinnati. The Heartlanders next oppose Indy for the first two games of the season series on Jan. 26 at 6:00 p.m. and Jan. 27 at 6:00 p.m.
