Love not typically in air this season series
Coralville, Iowa – The Iowa Heartlanders, proud ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild and Iowa Wild, host the Indy Fuel on Valentine’s Day Wednesday at 6:35 p.m.
Indy is making their first trip to Xtream Arena. The Heartlanders are 1-1-0-0 in the season series and Iowa has scored one more goal than the Fuel in the series, 8-7. The last time these teams played Jan. 27, Iowa and Indy combined for 89 penalty minutes.
Last week, Iowa picked up three of a possible six points (1-1-0-1) and played three one-goal games. The Heartlanders beat Cincinnati, 4-3, Friday and lost in a shootout Wednesday.
Five straight Heartlanders games have been decided by one goal; coincidentally, the last time the Heartlanders did not play a one-goal contest was against Indy, a 7-3 win on Jan. 27.
The Heartlanders are seven points back of Fort Wayne for the fourth and final playoff spot. Iowa is one game below hockey .500 (19-20-5-2). Indy has won four straight games and swept last-place Atlanta at home last week.
Iowa’s seven-game homestand continues Friday at 6:35 p.m. at Xtream Arena for Star Wars Night against the Indy Fuel.
