Coralville, Iowa – The Iowa Heartlanders announced Friday goaltender Drew DeRidder has signed a PTO with the Rochester Americans, the rookie’s first career “call-up” to the AHL. All three Heartlanders goaltenders this season (DeRidder, Peyton Jones and Hunter Jones) have earned recalls to the AHL in 2023-24.
DeRidder leads the Heartlanders with a 2.84 goals-against average and .914 save percentage (9-6-3-1 record overall).
Since Feb. 1, the Fenton, MI native ranks 3rd among ECHL rookies with a 2.16 goals-against average. DeRidder also has a .928 save percentage since Feb. 1, which is fourth among league rookies and ninth overall (4-3-1-1 record in that time).
In 2022-23, DeRidder was the starting goaltender for North Dakota and topped the school with 30 games played (13-9-4 record). He secured a 2.53 goals-against average, .899 save percentage and four shutouts.
Prior to that, DeRidder netminded 70 career games at Michigan State and was coached by Heartlanders Associate Coach Joe Exter for 4 years while with the Spartans. He posted a career-best .918 save percentage in his senior season.
In 2017-18, the left-handed catcher was the starting goalie for the USA NTDP U18 team (40 games played) and went 15-0-0 against USHL competition.

Renewal Process: The Heartlanders have started the renewal process for full season plans (Rose Club memberships) for the 2024-25 season, and the renewal application is now available online here. The Heartlanders have added new seating options for the 2024-25 season, debuting Attack Zone Lower, Attack Zone Upper, Defense Zone, and Corner sections to allow fans additional price points to fit their budget.
To retain your seats for the 2024-25 season, a $50 deposit per seat must be made by March 24. On March 25, all seats without deposits will be released and available for purchase by new season ticket holders.
