Need to know

- The Heartlanders wins last Friday and Saturday at Cincinnati helped Iowa capture the season series, the first time ever Iowa has won a season set against the ‘Clones.

- The Heartlanders have won five straight road games, a season high.
- Dakota Raabe scored his first overtime goal in Saturday’s victory and notched his first multi-goal game of the season.

Five straight wins on the road

Iowa has won five straight road games, tied for the franchise record for longest away winning streak and points streak. The run started Jan. 27 against the Fuel and continued in February with back-to-back road sweeps at Kalamazoo (2 games) and Cincinnati (2 games).

The only other time Iowa has won five straight on the road was in the team’s inaugural season (Feb. 4, 2022 – Mar. 5, 2022). In that streak, Iowa bested Toledo, Wheeling, Kalamazoo (2x) and Kansas City and was part of a larger seven-game winning run, tied for the longest in team history.

This season, Iowa has established or tied team bests in the following categories: winning streak (7), home winning streak (6), road winning streak (5), points streak (9), home points streak (7) and road points streak (5).

February recap

Iowa finished February with a 5-5-0-1 record, tied for the second-winningest month of the regular season, including a perfect 4-0-0-0 away record. Over the last two months, Iowa has gone 8-2-1-0 away from Xtream Arena.

Casey Dornbach topped Iowa with seven assists and ten points in 11 February games. Yuki Miura led all Heartlanders with five goals (8 pts.). Kyle Masters led the blue line with six points.

Between the pipes, Drew DeRidder led Iowa with a 3-1-0-1 record, 2.15 goals-against average and .923 save percentage.

March preview

The Heartlanders start a 14-game March slate Friday, their second-busiest month of the regular season (December, 15 games).

After completing the season series with Indy Mar. 1, Iowa visits Toledo and Wichita to round out a seven-game road trip.

Once that road trip concludes, the Heartlanders have three away contests left the entire regular season. Those three games are at Kansas City Mar. 27, Mar. 29 and Mar. 30 and are the first matchups of a four-game season series with the Mavericks, an oddity considering Kansas City is Iowa’s closest geographical foe.

Iowa is home for six games in March, a six-game home stand that runs from Mar. 13-24 against Wheeling (3 games) and Wichita (3 games).
