Coralville, Iowa – The Iowa Heartlanders, proud ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild and Iowa Wild, face the Wheeling Nailers in the rubber match of a three-game series Saturday at 6:05 p.m. on St. Hat Trick’s Day, presented by DASH Auctions.

 

Tonight’s game features a Heartlanders Mascot Dash Bobblehead giveaway to the first 500 fans, theme jerseys available for auction and a special appearance by the Kelly Cup, the ECHL’s championship trophy.

 

The teams have split the first two games of the series and each team has won in overtime. Friday, Justin Lee scored the game’s only goal at 2:59 of overtime.

 

Drew DeRidder made 35 saves in the overtime loss. Taylor Gauthier blocked 27 shots for his fourth win of the season series. He shut out Iowa for the second time in his career Friday.

Bag Policy: Xtream Arena will implement a clear bag policy for all ticketed events.  A clear 12” x 6” x 12” bag or smaller will be permitted as well as small clutch style purses or wallets. Patrons will be asked to return any bag that does not meet this criteria to their vehicle prior to entry. Diaper bags or medical bags are allowed to exceed that size limit, but will be searched. Small clutch style purses or wallets no larger than 4.5” x 6.5” are permitted as well.

 

Parking: Parking is available in the South Parking Lot located by the Hyatt Regency Convention Center Entrance or the North Ramp located by the Hyatt Regency main entrance. - Friday’s 1-0 overtime game was the first time in team history Iowa has played a scoreless game into the extra session and the second 1-0 final in Heartlanders history.

- Drew DeRidder is 2-1-1-0 in his last four games.

- Iowa trails Cincinnati by one point for sixth in the Central Division.

 

 

All-time series

Iowa stands 11-9-3-0 in the all-time series against Wheeling. Iowa has a 6-3-0-0 road record against Wheeling. The Heartlanders have points in two of the four games at home against Wheeling this season.

 

In the 2022-2023 season, The Heartlanders were 6-3-1-0 against Wheeling. There was also a notable 342 combined penalty minutes between the two teams. Iowa had 149 PIM while the Nailers had 193 minutes.

 

In the 2021-2022 season, Iowa went 3-3-1-0. It was a “reverse home ice” series; neither team had a winning record at their home barns.

 

More numbers

Since the last time these two teams faced off the Iowa Heartlanders are 9-10-2-0, while the Nailers are 17-8-1-0, including a 12-game win streak. That was the Nailers' longest winning streak since 2004 and the best under Head Coach Derek Army. 

 

Since February 16 the Nailers are 5-8-1-0.

 

The Iowa Heartlanders have fought the Nailers 15 times, the second most of any opponent behind Fort Wayne (17 times).

Renewal Process: The Heartlanders have started the renewal process for full season plans (Rose Club memberships) for the 2024-25 season, and the renewal application is now available online here. Once you log in, simply click “Season Renewal Application” under the “My Tickets” tab on the right, then complete the process. Our sales representatives are available to help with the renewal process by calling 319-855-1775. You can also stop by the Mediacom Season Ticket Table behind section 109 at any future game to secure your seat for the 2024-2025 season. 

 

The Heartlanders have added new seating options for the 2024-25 season, debuting Attack Zone Lower, Attack Zone Upper, Defense Zone, and Corner sections to allow fans additional price points to fit their budget.

 

To retain your seats for the 2024-25 season, a $50 deposit per seat must be made by March 24. On March 25, all seats without deposits will be released and available for purchase by new season ticket holders.
