Heartlanders start six-game home stand

Coralville, Iowa – The Iowa Heartlanders, proud ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild and Iowa Wild, take on the Toledo Walleye Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. The Heartlanders are starting a three-game set against Toledo. The final six games of Iowa’s season are at Xtream Arena.

Overall, the Heartlanders will complete the season with 12 of their final 15 at Xtream Arena.

Last week, Iowa took a pair of leads on back-to-back nights at league-best Kansas City, but the Mavericks overcame those deficits and earned three wins against the Heartlanders. On Friday and Saturday, Kansas City scored the game-winning goal early in the third period.

The Walleye sit with 43 wins and 95 points, 16 ahead of second-place Indy. Toledo has won 21 games on the road and own the league’s third-best road points percentage. Toledo has ranked in the top-ten of road points percentage every year since 2014-15 (nine straight seasons, team did not play in 2020-21).

All six of Iowa’s remaining games are against teams currently in playoff positioning. The Heartlanders face Toledo on Friday, Apr. 5 at 6:35 p.m. and Saturday, Apr. 6 at 6:05 p.m. to wrap up the season series with the Walleye.

Iowa plays three games next week at home on Wednesday, Apr. 10 at 6:35 vs. Kalamazoo, Friday, Apr. 12 at 6:35 p.m. against Kalamazoo and Saturday, Apr. 13 at 6:05 p.m. against Kansas City.

Need to know

- Iowa has scored the game’s first goal six times in the last seven games.

- Louis Boudon has points in five straight games, the fourth time this season he’s owned a streak that long.

- The Heartlanders are two home wins away from matching their single-season record (15, 2x, 2021-22 and 2022-23).

Final 6 at home

The Heartlanders will enjoy their second-longest home stand of the season to end the 2023-24 regular season. This six-game stand is the longest Iowa has ever had at home to complete a regular season.

Last year, Iowa played their final three games of the season at home and bested Wheeling in two of three for a sweet finish to the 2022-23 campaign.

Iowa went 4-1-1-0 in their most-recent six-game home stand in March; every game was decided by exactly one goal.

The Heartlanders are two wins away from matching their most wins ever at home in a regular season (done twice: 2021-22 and 2022-23).

Next up

The Heartlanders are back at home Fri., Apr. 5 at 6:35 p.m. and Sat., Apr. 6 at 6:05 p.m. to take on the Toledo Walleye at Xtream Arena.
