Miura sets new high
Yuki Miura assisted Pavel Novak’s goal Saturday and now has a career-best 12 goals and 31 points this season. The third-year professional has been remarkably consistent in his three seasons with the team; he provided ten goals (22 points) as a rookie and 11 goals (30 points) last season.
The Toyko native is Iowa’s all-time games played leader (181) and has played in 140 straight games for Iowa, last missing the Heartlanders’ opening night contest at the start of the 2022-23 season.
Miura moved to Iowa from Europe in 2026-17, starring for the Waterloo Black Hawks (USHL). Following a four-year career at Lake Superior State, he joined Iowa on a try-out contract and made the Heartlanders inaugural season roster after an impressive training camp. He has been with the Landers ever since the 2021 training camp.
Pavel providing spark
Rookie Pavel Novak scored Friday and Saturday for Iowa in the team’s games against the Toledo Walleye. Each of his strikes pulled Iowa within a goal.
The 22-year-old is tied for second on the team with 13 goals (24 points) in 41 games. Novak scored 29 times and generated 72 points for WHL Kelowna in 2021-22. Minnesota selected Novak in the 5th round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
