Coralville, Iowa – The Iowa Heartlanders host the Bloomington Bison for the first time ever on Marvel Night Thursday at 7:00 p.m. The teams will play 15 times this season. Ten of the head-to-head meetings are in the next five weeks.
Bloomington plays in the Central Division and joined the ECHL this season.
The Heartlanders will wear special Miles Morales jerseys currently available for auction on DASH Auctions. Additionally, grab a Marvel poster giveaway and come dressed as your favorite hero (no masks allowed into the game).
Iowa earned their first point of the season last Saturday in a 2-1 overtime loss against Fort Wayne. Matthew Sop tied the game with 2:19 to go.

- Iowa has scored six goals through the first two games, including a five-goal effort on Open Season Friday against the Komets.
- The Heartlanders made their first trade of the season Tuesday, acquiring defenseman Andrew McLean from Norfolk. McLean tallied 33 points (5g) last season for the Admirals.
- This is the first of three straight games between Iowa and Bloomington

Sop showing potential
Rookie Matthew Sop registered two goals and an assist in his first two pro games, including a penalty shot goal in Saturday’s game against the Komets that forced overtime.
On Friday, he scored on his first shot as a professional, lasering in a wrister 1:12 into the first to give Iowa an early advantage over Fort Wayne.
Sop is coming off a personal best year with the OHL’s Kitchener Rangers, where he scored 90 points in 67 games played, earning him the Leo Lalonde Trophy (OHL Overage Player of the Year).
Scouting the Bison
The Bison dropped their first two games in team history at Grossinger Motors Arena against perennial powerhouse Toledo.
They opened their inaugural season against Toledo Saturday, but were shutout at home, 2-0. On Sunday, they fell 4-2 to the Walleye. Bryce Montgomery and Case McCarthy scored for the Bison.
Montgomery scored the first goal in Bloomington history.
Phil Barski is in his first season as a head coach in the ECHL.
