Who’s popping in goals?

Matthew Sop and Will Calverley lead Iowa with three goals this season, and forward Dakota Raabe has scored twice in his first four contests.

Sop (6 pts.) and Jack O’Brien (5 pts.) are each in the top-five of rookie point production to start the week.

Beyond the points and goals, Sop also added his first career shootout goal in Saturday’s win at Bloomington.

Last time out

Iowa scored on their first two shots and took a 4-1 lead late in the second but needed to withstand a furious Bloomington comeback to win in the shootout, 5-4, Saturday at Grossinger Motors Arena.

Dakota Raabe and Adam Goodsir tallied in the opening two minutes to give Iowa a 2-0 edge. Next, in the second, Iowa struck twice more despite taking only three shots on goal in the middle 20 minutes.

In the final period, Case McCarthy, Chongmin Lee and Ryan Siedem scored in the third to force overtime.

William Rousseau blocked 36 shots (plus two in the shootout) for his first career win.
