Heartlanders visit Tulsa, riding back-to-back wins

 

Tulsa, OK – Iowa Heartlanders (2-2-1-0) start a road weekend at the Tulsa Oilers (3-1-1-0) Saturday at 7:05 p.m.

 

The Heartlanders have won back-to-back games, while Tulsa looks to rebound after dropping back-to-back contests last weekend. 

 

Iowa last played Thursday and Dylan Ferguson made 31 saves to shut out Bloomington, 1-0. 

 

Iowa is next at home Sat., Nov. 9 at 6:00 p.m. against Bloomington for Salute to Service Night. The team is also preparing for five home games in November, including the much-anticipated Crispy Bacon Night on Sat., Nov. 30.

Need To Know:
- The Heartlanders earned their first shutout of the season in Wednesday’s 1-0 win.
- Will Calverley scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season Wednesday. 
- All five Iowa games have been tied or within a goal in the final two minutes.

First Shutout

Dylan Ferguson became the fourth Heartlanders goaltender to earn a shutout in team history, joining Corbin Kaczperski (Mar. 25, 2022, 5-0 win vs. Cincinnati), Hunter Jones (Mar. 19, 2023, 2-0 win at Kalamazoo) and Peyton Jones (Nov. 17, 2023, 4-0 win vs. Utah).

 

Following Ferguson’s 31-save performance, he was reassigned to the Iowa Wild. 

 

William Rousseau and Kyle McClellan have also had strong starts to their seasons; Rousseau has had 2 performances with 30+ saves and McClellan stopped 32 shots in his season debut Oct. 18. 

 

 

Last time out

Will Calverley one-timed a slap shot from the center of the blue line with 2:34 to go in the second, giving Iowa a lead they would not surrender in a 1-0 victory vs. Bloomington Wednesday at Xtream Arena. 

 

Calverley has goals in three straight games for the first time in his career. 

 

Meanwhile, Dylan Ferguson blocked 15 shots in the third period to keep the Landers in the lead. 

 

Mark Sinclair blocked 31 shots in defeat for Bloomington, allowing one goal.
