Know Before You Go Guide For Home Games
Coralville, Iowa – The Iowa Heartlanders (17-11-3-1, 38 points) are home for the first time in the calendar year to take on the Kalamazoo Wings (12-18-1-0, 25 points) on Golden Ticket Night Friday at 7:05 p.m. Friday is the first of eight games against the Wings this season; all of the games take place in the next two months.
Iowa is starting a six-game homestand, the team’s second-longest homestand of the season.
Last weekend, the Heartlanders took two games against Wichita to win the weekend series and return to second place in the Central Division. Iowa is one point up on Fort Wayne for second.
Kalamazoo is sixth place in the Central Division. The top-four teams in each division make the Kelly Cup Playoffs.

Need To Know:
- The Heartlanders won their last two games of their six-game road trip and earned points in three of the six games. Iowa played Western-Conference-leading Toledo, Eastern-Conference-leading Wheeling and Wichita (3rd place in Mountain).
- Will Calverley is one off a career-high in points. He had 21 last season.
- Six Heartanders have at least seven goals.
Rookie gains
Heartlanders rookies T.J. Walsh and Ryan Miotto each have a team-best ten goals entering the week. Each factored in a big way in Sunday’s win against Wichita; Miotto scored twice and Walsh had a two-point game (1g). Rookie Matt Sop is tied with Dakota Raabe for third on the team with eight goals.
Walsh is a former Cedar Rapids RoughRiders/Des Moines Buccaneers standout and finished his collegiate career at Sacred Heart last season with team-best 13 goals.
Miotto has a pair of multi-goal games this season, tied with Yuki Miura for most on the team. The right-handed shot last scored at least ten goals in a season for Canisius College as a senior in 2022-23. Following a fifth NCAA season at Vermont in 2023-24, Miotto played five games for Wheeling and scored one goal.
Scouting the Wings
Kalamazoo is in the second of four straight on the road, the team’s second-longest road trip of the season (5 games in November).
The Wings have won back-to-back games four times this season, but has lost at least two in a row five times.
Second-year pro Ben Berard tops the Wings with 11 goals and 19 points. Rookie Zach Okabe, who was born in Japan and raised in Canada and Australia, is second on the squad with 18 points.
The Wings return the reliable netminding duo of Jonathan Lemieux and Hunter Vorva. Lemieux has played a team-best 21 games (7-11-1-0, 2.57 GAA, .920 sv.%).
