Coralville, Iowa – The Iowa Heartlanders (19-11-3-1, 42 points) have won four straight games and are at home against the Indy Fuel (14-14-2-2, 32 points) on Heartland Heroes Day Sunday at 3:00 p.m. The six-game homestand runs through Jan. 19, when Iowa concludes a three-in-three vs. Tahoe. Next week’s action includes Pride Night on Fri., Jan. 17 at Wild, Wild Midwest Night on Sat., Jan. 18.

 

Saturday, the Heartlanders scored the first two goals and never looked back for a 4-1 win. Yuki Miura (1g, 2a) had two assists in the final three minutes of the game. Zach Dubinsky notched his third of the season. Ryan Miotto scored his 11th of the season to tie T.J. Walsh for the team lead.

 

Sunday is the fourth game of the six-game season series, and the final home game this regular season for Iowa vs. Indy. The Heartlanders take on the Fuel two more times at the Fishers Event Center Mar. 1-2.

 

The Heartlanders are second in the Central Division. Indy is fifth in the Central Division.

- Kyle McClellan has won three straight starts.  

- Yuki Miura and Ryan Miotto each had three points Saturday. Miura tied a career best and it was a season high for the rookie Miotto.

- The Heartlanders have won four games in a row for the third time this season.

 

Last Time Out

The Heartlanders scored early in the first period and never trailed in a 4-1 win over the Indy Fuel Saturday. Kyle McClellan denied his first 17 shots faced and earned the win with 21 stops. Iowa’s Zach Dubinsky provided needed insurance with his third of the season with 2:44 to go, making it 3-1. Matt Sop added an empty-net goal.

 

 

Scouting the Indy Fuel

The Fuel are completing their second “4-in-5” of the season Sunday (four games in five days). Before playing the Heartlanders, the club started the week by splitting a pair of home games with the North-Division-leading Wheeling Nailers.

 

Cam Hausinger leads the Fuel with 12 goals.

 

Goaltender Ben Gaudreau has seen the majority of playing time for Indy, going 8-8-1-2 with a 2.18 goals-against average and .913 save percentage.

 

 

All-Time Series vs. Indy

Iowa has an all-time record of 11-15-2-0 against Indy. Iowa has a home record of 5-7-1-0 against the Fuel. 

 

Yuki Miura has three goals and nine points in his career against the Fuel. Dakota Raabe has pitched in six points (1g, 5a) since joining the Heartlanders midway through last season.

 

The series has often been defined by come-from-behind efforts; the Heartlanders have four ever against the Fuel and Indy has come from behind in slightly more than half of their wins all time against Iowa (10). The Heartlanders have led wire-to-wire in seven of their 11 wins ever vs. the Fuel.
