Toledo, OH – The Iowa Heartlanders (21-12-4-2, 48 points) continue their weekend road trip at the Toledo Walleye (25-10-5-0, 55 points) Saturday at 6:15 p.m.
The Heartlanders are in the second of three straight on the road. Iowa also opposes Toledo Sunday at 4:15 p.m.
Friday, Iowa visited Cincinnati and had a season-best eight-game point streak snapped in a 3-1 loss. The Heartlanders scored on their first shot, but Pavel Cajan stopped the next 23 faced and Cincinnati iced it with an empty-netter. Toledo is coming off a Friday win in the shootout, 2-1, vs. Kalamazoo.
The Heartlanders are ranked third in the Central Division and Toledo is first in the Central Division.

Scouting Toledo
The Walleye are coming off a 2-1 win against Kalamazoo Friday at home. Toledo’s offense is led by arguably the best top line in the league; Trenton Bliss, Tyler Spezia and reigning league MVP Brandon Hawkins. Hawkins and Bliss have averaged more than a point-per-game during their time in the ECHL, while Spezia is nearing 100 career ECHL points over three seasons with the Walleye.
Goaltender Jan Bednar leads Toledo with 15 wins.
Second-year Head Coach Pat Mikesch leads the Fish. He is a former USHL Head Coach with the Green Bay Gamblers.
Season Series
The Heartlanders won the first two games of the season series against Toledo and the Walleye have won the last two. Iowa is 2-1-0-1 in the season series.
T.J. Walsh and Jules Boscq top Iowa with four points against Toledo. Walsh leads the Landers with three goals in the season series.
Two games have gone to overtime. The Heartlanders won in OT at the Huntington Center Dec. 4, thanks to Yuki Miura’s winner. Brandon Hawkins scored the shootout-winning goal for Toledo on Dec. 27.
Toledo’s Brandon Kruse leads all Walleye players with five points (5a) in the series.
