Coralville, Iowa – The Iowa Heartlanders (25-15-4-3, 57 points) take on the Cincinnati Cyclones (16-23-7-0, 39 points) for the first time at home this season and begin a four-game homestand on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
The two teams have split the first four meetings of the season series at Cincinnati. The Heartlanders last faced the Cyclones a week ago and rookie goaltender Kyle McClellan shut out the ‘Clones, 2-0. Matthew Sop, now recalled to the AHL, scored the game-winning goal for Iowa on the first shot of the game.
The Heartlanders are second in the Central Division and Cincinnati is sixth in the Central Division.

Rousseau and McClellan continue strong play
Despite a 2-0 loss to Kalamazoo Saturday, goaltenders William Rousseau and Kyle McClellan have been a strong foundation for the Heartlanders, allowing three goals in Iowa’s last three games.
Last Wednesday, McClellan made 25 saves to blank Cincinnati, his second shutout of the season. His first happened Jan. 18 against the Tahoe Knight Monsters.
Rousseau stopped 29 of 30 shots in the Heartlanders’ win over Kalamazoo on Feb. 7. Entering the week, Rousseau ranks eighth in goals against average (2.29), which is second among rookie goaltenders. Rousseau has a 12-2-3-1 record.
Homestand preview
Iowa’s week-long homestand features a handful of critical matchups for both Iowa and their opponents. The Heartlanders are three points ahead of Fort Wayne for second in the division. Cincinnati is seven points back of Bloomington for the fourth and final playoff spot.
Friday and Saturday, Iowa hosts first-place Toledo. The Walleye are on a 7-0-1-0 stretch, extending their division lead to 11 points over Iowa.
Finally, next Wed., Feb. 19, Bloomington visits Xtream Arena for the final time this season. The Bison are three points ahead of fifth-place Indy. The top-four teams in each division qualify for the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
