Final game of season series against Bloomington Saturday

Bloomington, IL – The Iowa Heartlanders (31-17-5-4, 71 points) complete the season series with the Bloomington Bison (24-27-3-2, 53 points) Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

Iowa has played Bloomington 14 times this season and is 7-4-3-0 against the Bison. The Heartlanders have secured 17 points in the series and Bloomington has received 15. 

Saturday added a new layer to the rivalry; the teams combined for 82 penalty minutes and Bloomington won it in overtime, 3-2. Gavin Hain and Austen Swankler scored for the Heartlanders.

The Heartlanders are third in the Central Division, two points back of Fort Wayne. The Bison are tied for the fourth and final playoff spot with Cincinnati.

More than halfway there 

The Heartlanders are preparing for their seventh game of a ten-game road trip Saturday. Through six games, Iowa is 3-1-1-1. Iowa started the trip with back-to-back wins at Cincinnati and Toledo. 

The ten-game trip is tied for the longest road trip in Iowa history (2023-24 season). 

The trip concludes with three games at Rapid City next Thursday-Saturday.

The Heartlanders are 7-4-3-0 in the season series with the Bison and Saturday marks the final game of the 15-game season series. There have been 546 combined penalty minutes in the season, nine fights and four games decided in overtime.
