All-time series
The Heartlanders are 2-6-2-0 against the Rush ever, but the all-time series has featured some of the more-unique games in Iowa history.
In the 2021-22 season, Iowa went 2-1-0-0 in three games in the Black Hills. Due to a small illness outbreak on the team and other roster shortages, the Heartlanders played two of the three games with three natural defenseman an won each of those games on Jan. 8-9, 2022.
In those two games, forwards Zach White and Zach Remers played defense for Iowa. The Heartlanders earned their first overtime win in team history on Jan. 8 thanks to a goal from Bryce Misley. The next day, playing with 13 skaters, the Heartlanders scored four goals in the first period, Jake Smith registered the first hat trick (and five-point game) in Iowa history and the Landers had their highest-scoring game ever in a 9-1 win.

The Heartlanders end a season-long ten-game road trip Saturday in Rapid City. This road trip matched the longest in the club’s history (2023-24 season) and Iowa has two road games left this regular season – Saturday and then Apr. 13 to conclude the year at Kalamazoo.
Iowa has 15 road wins this season, the most in a single season in team history. The Heartlanders have gotten at least a point in 20 of those road games.
The road trip started Feb. 21 at Cincinnati and has seen Iowa travel 4000 miles and visit six ECHL cities.
The Heartlanders are 3-3-2-1 in the first nine games.
