Game 5 Recap

The Heartlanders took down the Fort Wayne Komets, 5-2, in Game 5 of the Central Division Semifinals Thursday at Xtream Arena to take a 3-2 series lead.

Keltie Jeri-Leon recorded two goals in the effort and leads the team in playoff goals with four. Mike Koster and Luke Mobley each notched a goal and two points.

The Heartlanders scored three times in a five-minute span late in the first period to establish a 3-0 edge. Both teams scored in the second and third. The Komets pulled within two twice, but Iowa responded after each Fort Wayne goal.

Keltie does it again

Forward Keltie Jeri-Leon registered his second multi-goal game of the season, and first with Iowa, in Thursday’s Game 5 win. Jeri-Leon scored back-to-back in the first period to give Iowa a 2-0 edge.

Iowa acquired the fourth-year forward from Savannah in February, and Jeri-Leon scored 20 points (6g) in 26 games with the Heartlanders.

In the playoffs, Jeri-Leon leads Iowa with four goals and is tied for first on the team with six points.
