Coralville, Iowa - The Iowa Heartlanders announced Thursday forward Jaxon Nelson has signed a professional try-out with the Iowa Wild, his first AHL call up of the regular season.
Nelson is second in the ECHL with nine goals and 14 points in 17 games. He was named October ECHL Player of the Month, becoming the second-ever Heartlanders player to earn player of the month honors.
The 6-foot-4, 216-lb., right-handed shot is in his second professional season. Last year, Nelson scored two goals and nine points in 35 games with AHL Providence. Nelson captained the University of Minnesota in 2023-24 and spent five seasons with the Golden Gophers.
