Coralville, Iowa – The Iowa Heartlanders (8-14-2-0, 18 pts.) start a pre-holiday-season two-game road trip at the Toledo Walleye (13-5-2-2, 30 pts.) Friday at 6:15 p.m. The Heartlanders are playing the Walleye for the fourth time this season and the third time in the last four games. The teams wrap up a back-to-back set on 1630 AM KCJJ Saturday at 6:15 p.m.
The Heartlanders went 1-3-0-0 on their recent four-game homestand. The stand ended with a 4-2 loss to the Indy Fuel Wednesday.
The Walleye have had six days off to prepare after their road trip at Xtream Arena last weekend. The Walleye won both games in Coralville and are 2-1-0-0 in the season series.
After the ECHL holiday break, the Heartlanders open up the post-Christmas slate with three games against the Bloomington Bison. Bluey Night is Fri., Dec. 26 at 7:00 p.m. at Xtream Arena. The Heartlanders visit the Bison Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday at 4:00 p.m.

Call ups
The Heartlanders had defenseman Stevie Leskovar and goaltender Riley Mercer reassigned to the Iowa Wild Thursday.
Mercer is second in the league in minutes and 5th in the league in saves. He made a career-high 37 stops (3 GA) in the Wednesday defeat vs. Indy.
Leskovar has one goal and ten penalty minutes in 15 games with the Heartlanders this season.
The Heartlanders have had ten players recalled to the AHL this season.
Seven players that skated for Iowa in November are currently recalled to the Iowa Wild, continuing the strong progression of Heartlanders to make it to the AHL and continue their career development.
Scouting the Fish
Brandon Hawkins, two-time league MVP, leads the league with 31 points this season. He scored the game-winning goal against the Heartlanders last Friday in Coralville.
Tanner Dickinson and Riley McCourt are second on the squad with 18 points.
Between the pipes, Nolan LaLonde tops Toledo with six wins. All three Toledo goaltenders have a goals-against average below 3.00 this season. Carter Gylander was recalled from Toledo to Grand Rapids last week.
