Looking to snap Toledo’s streak

The Walleye have rattled off ten straight wins for the first time this season, outscoring opponents by 31 goals in the last ten games (49 GF, 18 GA). The streak began Dec. 6 with a 5-4 OT win against Fort Wayne. The Walleye are also on an 11-game points streak since Dec. 3, when the Fish dropped, 3-2, in OT to Bloomington. S

Brandon Hawkins leads the league with 19 points since the start of the streak Dec. 9 (9g, 10a). Riley McCourt is best among league defensemen with 13 points (2g) over the same span.

Toledo has had a double-digit winning streak in three of the past four regular seasons and four times ever since changing names to the Walleye. Two years ago, the club won 14 in a row to end the regular season, then started the Kelly Cup Playoffs with eight straight wins (22-game win streak). Three years ago, the Walleye won 18 consecutive games from Feb. 4 – Mar. 18.

Mileage on road trip

Going back to just before the ECHL holiday break, the Heartlanders have been on an extended eight-game road trip, their longest scheduled of the season (TBD on rescheduling games with Bloomington postponed Dec. 26-28).

Friday marks the sixth of eight straight on the road. Over the eight games, Iowa will log approximately 3,100 miles on the bus, and the team has traveled about 2,500 miles so far.
