Sop starts to come alive

Iowa’s Matt Sop has points in five of his last six games and scored Sunday in Iowa’s 3-2 loss to Indy. The second-year professional from Kitchener, ON has tallied in back-to-back games and leads Iowa with 12 goals and 24 points in 34 games this season. Over the last six games, Sop has three goals and two assists.

Last season, Sop finished fifth on the team with 13 goals and 32 points despite only playing half the season with the Heartlanders (other half was recalled to AHL Iowa).

Sop is signed to an AHL contract with the Wild. In 2023-24, Sop was named the OHL Overage Player of the Year with Kitchener, scoring 43 goals and 90 points (5th OHL goals, 11th OHL points).

Besides the goal scoring production, the 23-year-old is a +3 over the last six games.
