Heartlanders Miura and Head Coach Chuck Weber headed to World Championships

Coralville, Iowa – Iowa Heartlanders forward Yuki Miura (Japan) and Head Coach Chuck Weber (Great Britain) are each headed to participate in the 2026 IIHF Hockey World Championships this Spring.

Miura was recalled to the Japanese National Team Monday and will play in the 2026 IIHF World Championship Division 1A (second best division in world).

Weber will serve as an Assistant Coach for Great Britain in the top division, the 2026 IIHF World Championship, in Switzerland from May 15-31. He will join Great Britain following the conclusion of the Heartlanders regular season Apr. 18 vs. Bloomington.

Weber is the first coach in Heartlanders history to head to the IIHF World Championship, and is believed to be one of the only coaches in ECHL history to do so while coaching in the ECHL. He has coached over 1990 games over his 27-year career, including time in the IHL, ECHL, AHL, KHL, EIHL and NCAA. A two-time Kelly Cup Champion Head Coach, Weber and Great Britain will face off against some of the best in the world including the United States, Finland and Host Switzerland after winning gold at the 2025 Division 1A Championships. This will be Weber’s 5th time representing Great Britian in Top or 1A Level of World Championships. He has won 2 Gold and 1 Silver medal at the 1A level.

Miura will look to win the Division I World Championship for Japan after the country placed 4th in Division 1A in 2025. He recently wrapped up his regular season with the Heartlanders and finished as Iowa’s all-time goals (62), assists (85), points (147) and games played leader (317) in Heartlanders history. Miura is the only player in team history to skate in all five seasons with the Landers.
